Parafilm is a paper-based paraffin plastic film. It is partly composed of polyethylene and is a thermoplastic, stretchable, waterproof, odorless, cohesive, and translucent material.
In mycology, Parafilm is used to tightly wrap Petri dishes to seal them tightly and thus protect them from external contamination.
